Ibadan is the State capital of Oyo State with a population of over 3m people. It is a busy City that accomodates an adequate amount of entertainment and relaxation. There are numerous Bars, Lounges and Night Clubs to enjoy incuding The University of Ibadan's great zoological garden.
The Zoo was established in 1948 to support Teachers, Researchers, etc. It is a modern Eco that has wild animals, mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians.
The Zoo is opened 7 days a week from 8:00am to 6:30pm with a token of N1000 paid as entrance fee. There are kiosks for refreshment in case you are hungry. You can cook your food and go with family/friends. It is usually busy on Sundays and some animals are being fed on this day so you could get lucky to visit at the time the animals are being fed. Animals like Lion, different species of monkeys, hyenna, ostrich, antelopes, carmels, goast, collared mangabeys, parrot, billed kite, giraffe, horses, birds- parrots, peafowl, monitor bullard, long legged black, anaconda, crocodile, baboons, etc are animals you will find in the zoo. A visit to a place like this gives life and makes you appreicate nature.
Do you have kids? Zoo is one of the amazing places to take your kid(s) to as it sparks up curiousity in them and as they run around exploring, they learn what animals they like and don't like. They also learn to move past their fears and trepidation about certain animals , reptiles, bugs etc. It offers them a wonderful introduction to animal science, teaches animal care, etc. It also encourages environmental awareness, learning and brain development. You will also find in the Zoo a park where children can have their fun time.
Do you have any nice place you have been to as well? Feel free to share with us on dewoyinesther@gmail.com as Ahmed as done so that we can publish for others to visit.
